“We engaged Sophie Cook to deliver a conversation on the topic of Transgender health support to the South West, NHS England and NHS Improvement, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Leads Network and wider community. This event was part of our programme to promote LGBTQI+ History Month.
“This topic generated a huge amount of interest and we had over 100 delegates book for the event.
“The event was held on MS Teams for just 1 hour and with hindsight we could have easily filled double that time, such was the level of interest.
“As a speaker Sophie is very engaging and knowledgeable with a hint of humour. She shares a very personal story that is filled with personal experiences that bring the talk to life in a way that only she can.
“Although some of the experiences are hard to hear, it really brings to life the challenges individuals can face while going through the lengthy process of Gender Reassignment. These experiences can be both personal and professional. It highlights the role we can all play in supporting individuals and the devastating impact where that support and understanding is not provided.
“The very open and honest approach by Sophie made the whole event educational to all the delegates. It also acted as a support for those who were already on the same journey or supporting others about to start the process.
“I would highly recommend Sophie Cook as a speaker on this subject.”
