There can be any things that stop us from reaching our full potential, for me it was primarily my fear.
For some people it can be a disability, lack of opportunity or prejudice and discrimination.
Last night I had the honour to speak at the Time2Give Christmas Charity Ball at Brighton’s Grand Hotel.
This is a great idea as I’ve been to the Charity auctions where the same wealthy people get to win all of the amazing lots purely because they can afford to although there may be others that would dearly love to win but can’t afford to.
I’ve also seen the amount of money raised by these events fall dramatically over the past decade as the economic situation has got worse.
This auction provided a level playing field and I used that to win the main auction prize of the evening and one that will help me overcome more of my fears and push myself on.
I bid 110 hours of volunteering time to win a skydive with the Red Devils!
I’m ex-RAF and have always believed that jumping out of a plane is fundamentally wrong, I was also previously excluded because of my weight so this gives me further impetus to lose a couple more stone between now and September.
The charity auction may be over but I’d encourage you to visit their website and, if you can, volunteer some of your time, you really can make a difference.
If you would like Sophie to speak at your charity event please get in touch.
